The presidency, race and politics

Something that stood out to me during the interview was when Senator Harry Reid said “light skinned with no negro dialect.”. It shocked me because Reid was on the democratic party, and was assisting Obama and trying to have him become elected. What Senator Reid means is that Obama is basically white in a black man's body. I know that in the past, blacks in America categorized, labeled and otherwise discriminated against one another based on the shade of their skin color and texture of their hair, but it seems as if ever since Obama's inauguration, discrimination against blacks has been growing rather than disappearing. We need to change. We need to teach the next generation to be tolerate of others, and see them for who they are rather than judging them based upon their outer appearance.
